Breaking Beauty Launch!

Breaking Beauty Book Launch 7 Nov 2014

It seems like a long time ago now, but back in November 2014 MidnightSun Publishing launched our first short story collection Breaking Beauty. It was such a great night that although months have passed we still enjoy talking about it!

The South Australian Writers Centre was full to bursting with a marvellous crowd, all there to support the 27 brilliant writers in the collection. We were thrilled that, despite the heat, so many people turned up to celebrate this very special book.

We were delighted to have South Australian author Sharon Kernot launch Breaking Beauty and she did a wonderful job of highlighting the diversity of the stories in the collection, finding both humour and darkness in amongst the often strange and hidden beauty in the stories.

Contributors Lilliana Rose (‘Ladies Tea Party’) and Katherine Arguile (‘Wabu-Sabi’) read their stories and showed just how differently the contributors tackled the idea of beauty, to give punters an idea of what to expect from the book.

The formal part of the evening was over after Editor Lynette Washington thanked everyone involved in the project and then it was time to eat, drink, buys books…and of course dance!

Book sales on the night were fabulous and we were thrilled to learn that we’d sold more books at the Breaking Beauty launch than at any other South Australian Writers Centre book launch!

Thank you so much to all who came along and supported us and our fabulous writers, it means so much to us to have your support.

And thanks also to everyone who helped out on the night – Hanna Washington for the delicious catering, Simon Hackett for supplying beautiful wines, Ross Williams, Peter Cassidy and Allan Taylor for helping out with sales and organisation on the night. We couldn’t have done it without you!

We are also very excited to announce that the first print run of Breaking Beauty is sold out. A second print will be available shortly – so if you haven’t bought your copy yet, grab one before this lot is all gone too!
